Who we are
AAA is a research and action platform based in Paris including architects, researchers, artists and activists. We are well known internationally for pioneering participative architecture since early 2000s and for using design as a driver for initiating and sustaining networks of civic initiatives for ecological transition.
In the CoNECT project we act as coordinator of the French team and co-leader of the WP3: CoNECT Labs.

Our role in the project
We have been one of the initiators of the CoNECT project, started via a long-term collaboration with ATU and with other partners (Chaire EFF&T, KTH).
For us CoNECT is a project of strategic importance: we would like to explore forms of scaling up at European level the network-based initiatives of community resilience we have explored for more than a decade at neighbourhood and city level. Our project R-Urban consists of a network of eco-hubs used and managed by inhabitants of mass housing estates in suburban areas. Built on municipal land, the R-Urban hubs vary in size and host different programmes (urban agriculture, recycling, repairing, eco-construction, culture and education) and function as urban commons, constituting a resource for the community. They support the emergence of stakeholders for ecological transition and introduce locally closed economic and ecological circuits in the neighbourhood. At the moment 8 hubs have been built in the Parisian region, two in London and one in Romania. R-Urban has received numerous international awards, the latest being the New European Bauhaus Prize 2022 in the category ‘reconnecting with nature’.
